Who can join?

Anyone over the age of 18 who has held a driving licence for at least 12 months. If you have 6 or more points on your licence we will have to refer you to our insurers to check they are able to cover you.

Can I cancel my membership at any time?

We’re not going to tie you into anything! If it’s not working for you, or your circumstances change, you can cancel your membership with immediate effect and we’ll refund your insurance deposit.

Will I be able to book a car when I need to?

Access to our cars shouldn’t be a problem. We aim to have the cars in use for 4-6 hours per day, so there should be enough flexibility for our members. If you book at the last minute, it may be harder to get a car at the exact time you need it, which is why we encourage you to plan ahead when feasible.

How far in advance can I make a booking?

Our booking system allows you to book a car up to 12 months in advance. Only required for the most organised of travellers!

Can I cancel or change a booking?

You can cancel or change a booking at any time. If you leave it until the very last minute, though, we may have to charge you a fee.

What happens if the car isn’t there when I’ve booked it?

Firstly, as a membership organisation, we all have a part to play in making sure that the car club runs smoothly. But in the unlikely event that the car isn’t in its bay when you arrive to pick it up, we’ll get an alternative means of transport to you straight away. If we need to get you a taxi for your trip, we will, and you will only pay car club charges.

What happens if the car breaks down when I’m on the road?

We have roadside assistance cover which protects all of our members. If you break down, contact us straight away and we’ll get someone out to you.

How do I pay?

Members will be billed monthly for their car use and mileage. Members can elect to pay by direct debit, credit or debit card, bank transfer or cheque.

Is the £5 monthly minimum charge an extra cost?

To cover our standing costs of insurance etc. we have to charge users a minimum of £5 per month. This means that if you don’t use the cars, you will still have to pay it. However, if you do use them, then the £5 will be absorbed as part of your bill. You could look at this like a phone contact with 26 miles of free travel per month.

Will the car be spotlessly clean when I use it?

The cars are washed every two weeks so if you use the car inbetween, please expect some dust inside and dirt on the outside.  If you have made the interior grubby with muddy feet or sand from the beach, please use a dustpan and brush to clean as much as you can so that other members are not inconvenienced.

What happens if I have an accident?

Firstly, make sure you’re in one piece! Then contact us on the emergency contact number immediately, and we’ll make sure that you and the car get home quickly and safely. If the accident was your fault, you will have to pay the excess, and the rest will obviously be covered.

What if I need to refuel the car when I’m out?

We ask all members to leave the car with a quarter of a tank of fuel at the end of their booking, so you shouldn’t need to top-up straight away. If you do need to refuel, use the fuel card provided in the car’s glove box to buy DIESEL fuel; most petrol stations are registered with us.

Do I have to return the car to the same place?

Yes – so that the next user knows where to find it! The bays are clearly marked.

What if there’s another vehicle in the parking bay when I return the car?

This shouldn’t happen as bays are clearly marked. If by some chance there is a car in the bay, park as nearby as possible and give us a call so we can get the other car moved.

What if the car gets dirty?

We ask our members to be considerate and leave the car as they would expect to find it, inside and out. We wash the cars monthly, so a little bit of dirt is fine, but if it gets quite dirty then please hoover or wash it before returning.

Can I smoke in the car?

No, our cars are all non-smoking cars. Please do not smoke in the cars, and do not use the ashtrays.
